FAQ's
So does food waste come into the “carbon reduction scheme” Carbon Credit space?
Potentially yes. The carbon reduction green paper out by the federal government at present has a specific section on landfill and waste. To read it click here:

What happens to food waste after it goes into the Food Waste Recycler pink bin?
The waste is collected by a designated organics truck, and then taken to a commercial composter, where the food waste is blended with other organic waste, and turned into compost, which you buy from landscape supply shops, or in potting mix/soil conditioner bags from the local hardware shop.
What happens is you don’t recycle food waste?
It gets mixed in with all other general waste, and ends up in landfill creating issues for vermin, odour, methane production and a mixture of other issues.
Is their regulation to govern food waste?
Not yet, but it may not be to far away! There are already levies on landfill (a tax paid for putting waste into the ground) to try and avoid environmentally negative waste disposal practices, and specific regulation on specific waste is being discussed.
